How We Got Started
Estate planning and elder law planning is essentially about being in control of your assets and providing for the well-being of you and your family. From the beginning in 1993, Clancy built the business from the ground up—a law firm focused in the areas of estate planning, elder law, wealth protection, business law, real estate, tax, and 1031 tax-deferred exchanges. Clancy started as an entrepreneur from an early age. At the age of 9, he built a lemonade stand with his best friend and made such an impact that the local paper (not the New York Times, but rather the more humble Carthage Press!) featured him on the front page. Clancy is fond of saying he is basically an entrepreneur with a law degree.
Clancy’s early business experience was encouraged by his parents: his father—a long-time, cutting edge dentist—and mother, an accomplished real estate agent. Clancy attributes his entrepreneurial spirit to both his parents and paternal grandmother (“Grando”), all key players who instilled strong work ethics and values clients experience today when working with Clancy. Clancy’s unique business experience combined with more than two decades of legal experience provide Clancy and the law firm the ability to empower clients to take control of and preserve their property for the next generation.
The Attorneys
R. Clancy Parks, Founding Partner
Clancy was adopted days after he was born in August of 1965. This fact has been a significant reason for Clancy’s profound sense of gratitude for all of the personal and professional success he has enjoyed. Clancy says being “chosen” by his wonderful parents was the best gift he could have been given. Prior to law school, Clancy obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business/Political Science; taught English in China; and served as an Event Coordinator for a 10,000 seat arena. (He even had dinner with Reba McEntire!) After graduating from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1993, Clancy moved his family back to Missouri and began the law firm. Clancy is very proud of his two children, Andrew and Graceanne.
Cameron G. Jones, Partner
Cameron was born and raised in Missouri. He grew up in Springfield and attended Evangel University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Pre-Law. After graduation, Cameron attended law school in Virginia Beach, VA at Regent University School of Law with a focus in estate planning and elder law. Cameron’s legal internships included working with a large law firm; clerking for The Honorable Judge Der-Yeghiayan, a United States Federal District Court Judge in Chicago, Illinois; and spending the summer of 2010 interning at the law offices of R. Clancy Parks, Attorney at Law. 2011 marked the time Cameron joined the law firm as a licensed attorney. Having both of their professional goals aligned, practicing law together has enabled Clancy and Cameron to harness their synergistic potential, which maximizes the quality of service they provide their clients.
Kara N. Ransom, Partner

Kara grew up in the self-proclaimed “Floating Capital of Missouri”–Steelville, MO. She attended Evangel University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, while also completing some master’s-level counseling coursework. Following graduation, she attended Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she focused on estate planning and elder law. Kara’s legal internships include clerking at the American Center for Law and Justice, interning at a small law firm in Virginia, and interning in the estate planning branch of a medium-sized law firm also in Virginia. Kara is excited to be back in Springfield with her husband, Nathen, and their children, Parker and Paisley. She joined Parks & Jones as a licensed attorney in the spring of 2016. Her desire to make a difference in the lives of her clients while providing excellent quality of service makes her a great addition to an outstanding team.
